Cooperative Learning: Checking Your Documentation

Directions

With a partner, discuss and evaluate one another's documentation within your drafts. Use the following items to guide your discussion and evaluation: the questions below, note cards, and source cards.  Write responses for your partner's paper. Use your partner's answers to guide your efforts as you continue the writing process.

1.  Read your partner's draft, focusing on information for which sources are not named. Identify information that isn't documented and tell why you think it should be documented. Does your partner agree? Why or why not?

2.  Look at the formats of the documentation in your partner's draft, and check them against your partner's note cards and source cards. Which citations appear to be incorrect? List them and write down the problem of each.

3.  Look at the draft of your partner's works cited entries and check them against the documentation in your partner's draft and against your partner's source cards. Which citations appear to be incorrect? List them and write down the problem.
